In May 2014 the World Health Assembly (Geneva, Switzerland) approved the Global TB Strategy for 2016-2035 aimed at overcoming the existing obstacles in fight against tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, and HIV/TB co-infection, summarizing the results of the Global Plan to Stop TB developed by the WHO TB strategic working group and adopted by all WHO member countries that was implemented in 2005 – 2015.

The main target of the new Global WHO strategy to end TB by 2035 is to free the world from TB by reaching the zero incidence, mortality, and suffering from this disease.

The issue of fighting TB in Ukraine is one of the focus areas in healthcare and social development and the subject of international commitments. In 2014, Ukraine became one of the top five countries with the highest MDR-TB burden for the first time. Especially dangerous is the untimely addresses for medical assistance, late TB diagnostics, and HIV/TB co-infection, which causes a high level of mortality due to TB and results from the lack of a comprehensive approach to the combination of preventive and treatment programs at the national and regional levels into a single system of counteraction.
